Providing a safer return to the Big Screen experience

We can’t wait to welcome you back to the cinema and we’ve been working hard to ensure that is as safe as possible. The Coronavirus has impacted life for everyone, but we are determined to create a safe, enjoyable environment for our customers to return watching films on the big screen. It might not quite be ‘the same’ but we’ll do our very best to make it a great cinema experience.

Some of the changes we’ve made are detailed below.

Government Guidelines require you to wear a facecovering when entering the building, moving around and then leaving at the end of the film. You may take your facecovering off in order to consume food. So, eating and drinking isn’t a problem while you’re watching a film. Please remember that not all disabilities are visible and some people may not be able to wear facecoverings. Please be kind and courteous to other customers.

Our booking and ticketing system will enable you to sit the required physical distance away from other cinemagoers. The current physical distance requirements in the auditorium is 1m. This changed on Monday 19th July.

Please pay with contactless when possible, but we do also accept cash. Our staff members will be required to wash their hands or use sanitiser after every cash transaction, so please accept our apologies if the queue doesn’t move quite as quickly as usual.

We’re staggering our film times to ensure we have plenty time to thoroughly clean cinema halls between shows and to ensure customers arriving don’t meet customers leaving on our main stairway. We may also have to use emergency exit routes for customers to leave if necessary. This will be closely monitored and senior staff will work to minimise the risk of customers meeting on the stairs.

We’ll have hand sanitiser points placed throughout the building including in the entrance foyer and outside the cinema screens and toilets.

All common touch points; door handles, hand rails etc, will be cleaned regularly throughout the day. Toilets will be cleaned at the start of the day, after each film has gone in and after each film has come out, and checked regularly throughout the day.

As we are running at a significantly reduced capacity, in order to ensure you are not disappointed by not getting in to see your first film choice, we strongly recommend you book in advance. At the time of booking you will be able to choose exactly where you would like to sit in the auditorium, and our booking system will create a physical distance between your party and the next party by preventing sales of seats closer than the required minimum physical distance rule.

We’ve installed safety screens at the concessions counter for our staff and customer safety.

We will be adhering to the Scottish Government rules on physical distancing. The current requirement is 1m throughout the building. We will have clear floor markings and wall notices on display to enable you to follow the current guidelines.

All our staff have completed a Coronavirus Awareness Online Safety Course run by the Cinema Industry’s training partner, SkreenSkills. And all staff have been provided with on site training in our specific cinema environment.
